Phoenix Job Fair – CDL Sand Haulers – 09/28/2018
The Truck Driver is responsible for driving and operating a tractor trailer truck or heavy duty truck or equivalent in accordance with established safety procedures and guidelines set forth by the DOT (Department of Transportation), for the safe hauling of cargo to and from specified destinations.
This position requires working a rotating shift schedule (days/nights).
This position will work under the direction of the Operations Manager.
Operate a tractor and trailer unit
Perform safety inspections as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT)
Maintain a DOT driver log and records according to regulations and requirements
Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing duties
Complete each work ticket to ensure conformance with instructions and orders
Move equipment from location to location
Report all safety issues, incidents and concerns to UPP management, and notify supervisor of current or anticipated repair needs
Maintain satisfactory customer service, keeping radio or telephone contact with supervisor or dispatcher to receive delivery or pickup instructions
Conduct all pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractor-trailer unit, and perform minor emergency road service when needed
Load, secure and unload cargo or shipments, if necessary
Employee must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others, including coworkers and third parties, while wearing any required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all designated times
Perform other related duties as assigned
Able to drive commercial trucks and other vehicles with a manual transmission
Demonstrate the ability to work well with others, and work independently when required
Willing and able to operate and maintain assigned equipment in a safe manner while working in all weather conditions during a possible 12+ hour work shift that can include days or nights, as well as weekends and holidays
Demonstrate clear communication skills including ability to read, write and speak English, and to promptly follow verbal and written directions in English along with the ability to establish and maintain effective rapport with all employees at different levels both in the office and in the field
Must be able to work closely with others and under time-sensitive deadlines including potential emergency response situations
This position requires bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, and crawling, walking on uneven surfaces, and climbing equipment ladders or stairs throughout the work shift
High School diploma or GED equivalent
6 months of experience operating a manual shift diesel truck in a DOT-regulated environment
Have and maintain a valid Class A CDL with manual shift experience, be eligible to drive a Company vehicle and meet the requirements of the Company’s vehicle program, policy and/or guidelines
